Jana and I just got back from celebrating Nela's first birthday in Christ! We went all out and went to the snazziest restaurant in town and had a fabulous three course meal. Jana and I ordered a bit expensive just to make sure Nela ordered whatever she wanted. It was so much fun... definitely the highlight of my month. At the beginning of the meal, Nela said she had a question, "How does one become a missionary?" Not what I was expecting at all, but a great question nonetheless!! So, we talked a bit about one's calling and what the Bible has to say about 'going into all the world.' I kind of expected the conversation to end there... but it only seemed to get better.
Nela then talked about how she liked to study the Bible (she said "I love to study about Jesus, what Jesus says, what Jesus did...") , and wanted to study it more. She went on to say how she wanted to go to a Bible school "like Jana goes to school in America!" Wow! She said she wanted to teach the Bible to people one day, but she knows she needs to learn more before she can do that. Believe me, those words were music to my ears and to my heart. So this week I will be researching places where Nela can possibly go to school. I have some ideas, and hope to be able to get her some info by next week.
Please be praying for Nela, that her desire to seek God's will for her life continues. Be praying for me as I try to look into some schools for her, and as I continue to disciple her. I'm very excited as Nela takes these steps to figure out what God wants her to do with her life.
In other news, I went on a great day trip with some other missionaries in town to visit a monastery, and then went way up in the mountains (which was quite scary for me - the heights and all) to a place called Bobovac where the Bosnian Kings used to live hundreds of years ago. It was SO beautiful, and it was just a fun day to hang out with the girls. My next post, I'll post a picture. It's just gorgeous...
Otherwise, I guess that's all the news. I won't be posting tomorrow as I'm moving Bible study to Saturday evenings. My ceiling fan is working wonderfully, my toilet seat is broken again, and my outside light suddenly doesn't work... but who's complaining?? Nela wants to go to Bible school - does life really get any better???
