A real pain in the mouth...

Why do I love laptops? Here I am working (doing paperwork for my church, writing emails, posting on my blog) and I'm still in bed at 3pm. OK, technically I'm not still in bed, but I am bundled up under the covers while I work! I think yesterday and today have been the coldest days yet this year. The low this morning was about 25 and the high 32. Yesterday was the same. It snowed yesterday and just started again about a half hour or so ago.

I just got up to let Skoobi out for a few minutes, and made some slightly warm coffee for myself. Why only slightly warm when the house is kind of cool and it's snowing outside? Well, yesterday evening Anita and I went out to do some shopping. We met in town and it was cold and a bit snowy (but thankfully there was no ice on the sidewalks - I followed a sidewalk plower/salter home. I'm smart like that sometimes). We went to a couple stores and I was so bummed because I took my most awesome glove off to check my cell phone and a few seconds later, I realized I didn't put the glove back on and it was gone! We retraced our steps three times, and no glove. I was so bummed. Not only were they the warmest gloves ever, they were a gift from one of my best friends. That sucks.

But otherwise it was a nice time out. How does this tie into slightly warm coffee? I'm getting there... So on the way home, I was still bummed about the glove. I had older ones with me, but they didn't really work, so walking home, my hands got really cold. I stopped by the store near my house to buy something warm and easy for dinner. I decided to make fake pizza. I bought some bread and cheese, and when I got home, I put spaghetti sauce on the bread along with the cheese and shoved it in the oven.

Then I was happy because I checked my email and I had a message from Itunes telling me the newest episode of Survivor was ready to download - Yes! So I started to download it while I got ready for bed and the pizza was cooking. I talked to my friend on-line while the pizza was to finish and the episode to download. Then the download was complete and I got the pizza out of the oven and snuggled into bed with the dog and the pizza and hit play on the computer...

So Survivor starts and I'm so thankful for a warm bed and hot pizza...well, the pizza was really really hot. I just bit right into it and - OW! It was so hot! I'm spitting out pizza and guzzling milk, missing the first few seconds of Survivor. So I wait a few minutes for the pizza to cool, and take another bite. Apparently I didn't wait long enough... Aargh! I have a huge blister on my tongue and another on the roof of my mouth. So I can't even eat anything fairly warm without being in a lot of pain.

OK, so that was a long boring story - here is another one. I heard a bunch of dogs barking last night. So did Skoobi. She wasn't happy to not have been invited to the party. But they eventually went away and we went back to bed. I got up about 7 and was going to turn the heat on and let the dog out, but I popped open my email window first to let it download. Well, as I'm standing there, I swear I hear a dog crying. I look at Skoobi and she's snoring, not crying. So I listen, and I hear it again. I go to the window, look out, and there is a dog in my yard! My yard is totally gated - I have no idea how this dog got into the yard!

Well, I can't let Skoobi out until I get the dog out of the yard. So I get semi-dressed (it is 25 degrees outside mind you) and go outside. Skoobi is inside crying and whining her head off. I go into the yard - no dog. So now I'm really confused. I know there was a dog in the yard, and I have got to figure out how it got there. Well, then I see it - in the neighbors yard! I'm thinking "What the heck?! The dog is obviously stressed and looking for a way out. So in my pajamas (because we all know I can't leave a dog in distress) I unlock my gate, walk down the icy sidewalk to my next door neighbor's gate to see if I can let the dog out. I didn't even know if I could open the neighbor's gate, but turns out they don't lock the gate so I opened it quietly and tried to coax the dog out. The dog iwas terrified and wouldn't come to me.

So, I open the gate a little and leave a doggie treat by the door, hoping he would just come out on his own. So I walk to my gate and turn around and see the pup trotting off down the street. Poor guy. Hopefully he found his way home.

So I come in my house and let my mutt out. She proceeds to go crazy cause she smells the dog scent in the yard. I'm searching all over the yard trying to figure out how the dog got in and out. I think he squeezed through the big gate sometime last night, and then I found where he went under the fence into the neighbors yard. Skoobi can't do either, she's too big, so I'm glad there isn't a gapping hole somewhere I didn't see where Skoobi could escape. Sigh... a day in the life.

One other thing about shopping with Anita is I was able to buy Skoobi some Christmas presents for really cheap - woohoo! She needed some new inside toys and I got three for only about six bucks - not so bad! They are all wrapped and under the tree. She'll be so excited :)

Well, there you go... a long and boring blog post. Sometimes life's like that. It's nice to have a boring day every once in a while to catch up with paperwork and email and write on the blog :) Now I think I'm going to go outside and stick some snow in my mouth - even slightly warm coffee is painful!

sorry i haven't posted lately...

but i'm having some computer issues... my shift keys have stopped working. but thankfully, as you know, i will be in the states soon and can get the problem fixed. i called the mac store at the florida mall today. talk about unhelpful. so i called the apple care hotline and nathan the canadian was quite the helpful man. the guy at the store said i have to come in and fill all the paper work out, wait a while, blah, blah blah... nathan said - hey, give me an address and i'll just send you a new keyboard. nathan is my new best friend.

so, sorry about not capitalizing my letters and not having the correct punctuation for exclamation points, question marks, and parenthesis. you have no idea how annoying this is. thankfully in two and a half weeks, it shouldn't be a problem anymore. so all in all, i still love my mac - thank you nathan the canadian - exclamation point and smiley face...

Phew...

My friend Sarah always has these little quizzes on her blog, so I finally decided to take one... I was a bit concerned. I mean, if I came back as a PC, I would have never heard the end of it from Donovan. Of course, I probably wouldn't have posted it since I"m now a die hard mac person. Not as die hard as Donovan and some others I know, but I'm learning :) So take the quiz - are you a Mac or a PC??

You Are a Mac

You are creative, stylish, and super trendy.
You demand the best - even if it costs an arm and a leg.

I'm not sure about the stylish and trendy (remember, I have the same hair cut going on about 10 years now...) but I like to think I'm creative!

A year ago today... and other random thoughts

A year ago today I left for furlough. How weird. Time has surely flown, and a lot of things have changed. Who knew a year ago I would leave International Teams, be moving to Croatia, be selling most of my earthly possessions once again... sigh.

So a year ago today my parents, sister, and a bunch of people from church met me at the Orlando airport celebrating with cookies and diet 7-Up the arrival of myself and all my luggage. Sounds like a great reason for a party :) I mean, seriously, how often does my luggage arrive with me?

Also a year ago today, I became a Mac user. I've decided in that regard it's been a good year. Out of 365 days, I've probably hated my Mac 4-5 days, as opposed to hating my other computer 360 days a year. So, 4-5 days isn't too bad, I mean, who doesn't hate their computer at some point? OK, probably not Donovan, but he really doesn't count. Happy 1st birthday sweet computer!

I was supposed to get a package from Fed-Ex today. Yeah... I can't believe I actually thought it would come on time. Hopefully I can figure out where it is tomorrow.

I was also supposed to take Skoobi for the rest of her vaccines today, but the vet wasn't there. Thankfully we called first before we hauled the pup into the car. I really wanted to get it done today, but alas. I'll have to wait until next week now.

I did bake three batches of cookies today, so that was productive. I made 2 batches of chocolate chip and one of my absolute favorite cookie in the world... any one wanna guess? I know Penni knows, and I think Jana knows... I can't believe I only ate 2 before I put the in the freezer for this coming weekends Bible study. Oh my gosh... they are SO good.

I bought my plane ticket for my sister's wedding. I'll fly into Orlando May 17 and leave June 11. Or something like that. The ticket wasn't too badly priced for that time of year, and I have a pretty good flight schedule. I definitely want to see a lot of you while I' m in town, but I can't schedule anything till I know when I'm flying to and from Oregon. But I'll do my best to see as many of you as I can.

I complained and complained to my sister about having to fly to Oregon for the wedding, and then she drops the bomb that she, are you ready for this, wants her bridesmaids to wear... YELLOW. But then she said, well, you find a dress you want to wear. So, I got to pick the style of dress... not too bad. And I found a nice one in yellow... Now I need to figure out how to get a suntan in winter...

Ok, well, that was all random and boring... sometimes that's just life :)

I'm having a day...

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Well, that makes me feel slightly better...

At least I have "Najslabija Karika" to look forward to coming on TV in 10 minutes... And Lina is coming to visit Wednesday... And Skoobi gets her vaccinations tomorrow... So all isn't horrible. Actually when I think about it, there really isn't anything wrong. I've been working on computer stuff most of the day and it's gotten to the point where I just don't care... I'm never switching browsers again - Seriously, who the heck can remember all of their passwords? I had to change three of them because I got locked out of the sites from trying so many variations of the ones I normally use... sigh...

I miss my toaster.

What is "Najslabija Karika" you ask? Obviously it's a TV show... but which on?? I'll never tell. It's kind of embarrassing that I'm so addicted to it (to the point of taping it when I'm not home). Germaine - run it thru that awesome on-line translator you used for the Apostles Creed and let me know what you get :)

Ok, gotta go... it's on!!!

From One Pain to Another...

Thanks for praying for my ear. My infection is almost gone - I have almost no pain, and just a bit of swelling. What a pain, not only in the ear, but also in the butt it was... Again, praise God for $3 antibiotics in Bosnia!!

So what's my new pain, you ask?? My stupid email account!

I can't send any email through my email program, nor through the website... the people at Apple have been no help. While I love my computer, I am not impressed with customer service at all. I haven't been able to send email for over 24 hours now. I am beyond annoyed. Please pray this gets resolved as I have a ton of email piling up in my inbox. I receive mail fine, just can't send it.

So, if you're waiting for an email from me... I haven't forgotten you... I will email as soon as I can.

I wish I could get some cheap antibiotics to fix this royal pain in the ear!!
