Well, I think the yellow jacket problem is solved. Zoran the bug man said "the toxin will take a few days to kill them all, but it should be OK now." I have no choice but to trust the bug guy. below is a picture of him after he was done spraying. It's not the best picture since I didn't want him to know I was taking a picture... who takes a picture of the bug guy? But he was nice, and he charged me $15 less than they quoted me. Not so bad :) It was a little stressful when he first started. I thought it was going to be two of them in protective gear... nope. Just Zoran in his normal clothes. So he climbs the ladder to get a better look and proceeds to BANG on the roof. That was my cue to go inside. My philosophy would be NOT to let the yellow jackets know I was coming... but to each his own.
So I stayed safely in the house with everything shut tight, with my can of Raid nearby and Skoobi crying in the bedroom. I watched out the window expecting to see a swarm of yellow jackets, but there was none. When he was done, I asked him to go into the living room to see if they all decided to hide from the fumes in there. Below are pictures of the floor - the dots would be the dead yellow jackets from the last few days. There were a few live ones in the room. Zoran just flicked them and they died... I'm just not into flicking things with stingers. But I think I did see the hole they are coming in through, so hopefully I'll seal that up sometime this weekend.
One of the reasons they make me so nervous is that I've never been stung by a wasp or bee or hornet or anything. Fire ants and mosquitos - of course. I'm from Florida. But never by one of the others. So, I have no idea if I'm allergic to them or not. It wouldn't be so pleasant to be stung and then to pass out on the living room floor and not be discovered for days. Poor Skoobi... but hopefully I don't have to worry about that any more.
Below is a picture of Anita and Ljubica (from Zagreb). We went to have coffee for her after we dropped Jim and Carole off at the airport last week. It was really fun, and I was so glad to be able to see her and catch up with her. I have a few other photos on my camera, but they won't download for some reason. I'll try and work on that and post those for you as well.
I guess that's all for now... Have a blast and I'll talk to you again soon! :)

eeewww that gives me the creeps! I hate yellow jackets!! uh! I'll be praying that they're all gone.
nice... I would've studied up on fume inhalation especially the raid variety... that stuff is bad news!!
Love ~G
OK, sorry, I'm going to have to come down on the "you're a wuss" side of things. I got stung by my first yellow jacket at age 7 and it's just been downhill from there. I'm not saying I go handle them for fun or anything but you get used to it. I got stung by a wasp on the hand last year and my husband acted like I was going to die.
I think it's almost unnatural to be separated from nature, even the awful creepy crawly stuff. Of course I'm not counting cockroaches which are just evil and wrong and a vile byproduct of the Fall.
