I think I spelled the title word correctly. Cimburijada is Zenica's special holiday welcoming the arrival of Spring. I'm bummed I missed it. Everyone gathers down on the banks of the river - there are cook-outs, lots of walking around and seeing people... just a really fun time.
I can't believe I leave in a week. This time next week, I'lll be two hours into my flight to Vienna - uugh. Let's not think about the flight. But I am very excited about getting back. I did call and confirm my tickets today, and requested my seats. So I have an aisle for the long flight. 16J to be exact. I have a window going into Sarajevo. I love flying over Europe - it's so beautiful to see the alps, especially when they are snow covered. I love flying over Bosnia as well. I can pick out landmarks and cities as I fly over. It's beautiful.
I talked to Donata the other day, and all seems well. She says Skoobi won't remember me... I know that's not true, but it would kill me if it was. I'm worried about Andrej, Nela's son, not remembering me. It takes him a while to warm up to people. I'd hate to have to start over with him. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone. I've missed them all.
This is such a weird time. The mixed emotions of being so happy to se all my Bosnian friends again, and yet having to say gooodbye to family and friends. I've been thinking of things I will miss most from the States - this excludes family and friends, because of course I will miss them!!
1) WGNX - get it?? Gen-X?? It is the best radio station EVER. I am amazed that i can hear a song I literally haven't heard in 20 some years and remember every single word... it's such a great station, and with all the driving I've been doing lately, it's been a god-send.
2) Sweetened ice-tea. I don't know why, but I like sweetened iced-tea from restaurants... not any that I make myself. Weird.
3) Diet Sprite and 7-Up, but everyone already knew that
4) Ok, OK... so I like Wal-Mart
5) Coupons... I LOVE shopping with coupons
6) Customer service - I love being right, even if I may not be. :)
7) The Apprentice - gosh, i LOVE the apprentice!
Anyways, there you go... that's what I'll miss... check back soon... I promise to post a time or two more before i leave...

you have itunes for the music and croatian tv for the apprentice... you'll be fine. and don't worry, i'm sure that andrej will have at least some memory of you. you haven't been gone that long.
well, that was kind of stoic and not very fun...
yeah ok you're right...that was a pretty lousy comment. um...yeah, i actually forgot about cimburijada, which was very upsetting to me. i didn't even know that it was the first day of spring until the day after. truth be told, i've never been very included in the festivities, prvi maj is much more my scene =)
anyway, i'm jealous that you already get to go back. i wish i could be there to see the mutt's reaction when she sees you =)
We were all bummed to miss Cmburijada too. Mick wouldn't let me fix eggs for her at breakfast because it would make her miss Bosnia too much.
