I could be a wether forecaster...

Why, you ask?? Simple - on Easter, in Bosnia, it rains. Point blank. It doesn't matter what anyone says, or what the wind pattern is, or how many butterflies flutter their wings in China... there could be a 364 day drought - but it will be broken on Easter Sunday in Bosnia. And it amazes me how on every other day of the year, being outside in the rain pretty much constitutes a mortal sin. But yet on Easter if your hair gets wet and you're soaked to the skin you won't die, or get a headache, or a stiff neck... your kidneys and other vital organs are safe. Amazing how the Risen Christ is at work protecting His people's health that day... but apparently not the other 364 days of the year.

Actually, only half my body got soaked this year. I was under a tent, partly... I'm still a bit wrinkled on my left side from sitting under the drops, that turned into drips that turned slowly but surely into a steady strem of cold rainwater. At least I wasn't a few rows ahead of me where the plastic overhead bubbled and, well, soaked the people underneath it. Oh, it was so hard not to laugh in the middle of the sermon... so I did, and so did many others. It was great. Our church joined the Baptist church for our Easter celebration this year. It was nice to see everyone together, and to see some of the people I haven't been able to see yet since returning.

On the bummer side of things, I am unable to get a ADSL connection at my house for my computer. AARGH... apparently the wires haven't stretched to my side of town yet. But I have a couple of other options to look into - my quest begins tomorrow. Do pray I can find something as dial-up is very expensive. I new that first week back went way too smoothly :)

I met the new kids who live across the street... Bonita (12), Janita (10) and Dino (4). They are very very sweet children, and I hope to be able to meet their parents soon. Their mom works at a bar, and their dad is looking for work. The kids are home a lot by themselves. Pray for wisdom as I interact with them. Also continue to pray for Jasna and family. I have a feeling I've offended her somehow (probably by visiting the kids the other day and not her) - but then again, i always manage to offend Jasna... so just continue to pray for our relationship. Honestly, sometime it's just hard to go over there because she is always so negative and depressed. I want to be a light in her life... pray for strength and grace for me that I can extend to her.

Pray for the Bible study tomorrow night. I will post again and let you know how it goes. I think I will just post every Tuesday evening so you can be praying for the study in real-time. Do pray for Nela. I haven't seen her in over a week. She didn't come to the Easter service. She has a new job, and so we haven't been able to find a time to get together.

For me, I haven't been sleeping well the last few nights. I know this is often a prayer of mine, so I appreciate your continued prayer in this area. I can't figure out a pattern or cause, but I'm exhausted when i go to bed, and just lay there wide awake. It's very frustrating and makes it hard to function during the day.

Wow, this is the forever long blog... Thanks for your prayers... if you have time, leave a comment so i know you stopped by :) Much love...

Though I don't post that much, I do read your blog every day. Thanks for keeping us up to date. Thousands of miles away and yet the internet keeps us all as close as next door.

It really does rain on Easter every year. Yet every year we plan an outdoor cookout. Sigh.

Thanks for the update!

funny about that easter rain thing...it's so true though... maybe someday someone will get a clue and plan something that does not require being outside. of course, that day it would be sunny!

and don't worry, jasna will cheer up when i get there =)
