More Pictures - Day of the Dead

No, it's not a horror show, and actually we know it as All Saints Day (or Festum omnium sanctorum, if you want to get Latin with it). It's a huge holiday in most places in the world where people pay homage to their dead relatives at the grave yards. Calling it a huge deal really isn't giving it justice. Families gather for it just like families in the States gather for Thanksgiving. I live just two blocks from the huge cemetery in Varaždin. For the last ten days or so, people have been cleaning the graves, placing huge flower arrangements, and putting hundreds of candles around the graves. I cut through the cemetery a lot, and so it's been interesting to see. We went out to one of the graveyards last night. Some pictures are below. I didn't use a flash, so you really can't get the full picture. The only light was from the thousands of candles - it was a sight to be seen.








And here is a video I took at the cemetery... It's not so hot since I was trying to be discreet, and if you tend to get carsick, I probably wouldn't watch it if I were you...
